Are School Uniforms A Good Idea?
We have read articles about uniforms. There are many good reasons why uniforms are a good idea, some are gang related reasons. But you should be able to wear whatever you want. Here are some opinions saying that uniforms are a good idea.
“When we discussed whether or not we need uniforms I was one of the people who said yes. If people are dressed professionally and if I am dressed in baggy clothes, and if I go to McDonald’s people will treat me with less respect than with uniform. In the school there’s kids with a lot of money and kids with a little money, and the people with a lot of money will show off a new outfit every week.”

“I think uniforms are an excellent idea, I think it allows students to focus on their work in school instead of worrying about what to wear. I’ve been to a school that has uniforms and that doesn’t have uniforms. I find that at schools that do have uniforms the kids are better behaved, less fighting between kids in groups or gangs. I’m happy to be at school with a strong uniform policy. Sometimes people have to say uniform takes away from creativity, but since we have free dress days, I think the policy is a good one.”

If it were up to us, we wouldn’t have uniforms. We all think we should not have uniforms. Here are our opinions:
Cynthia says: Uniforms are not a great idea because since we have uniforms at our school people follow it during school, but when school is over people always change into their regular clothes. People say that uniforms prevent fighting, but if someone is in a gang that gang has its certain colors someone in the gang should wear and if they’re not wearing that color, a fight can occur.
Erika says: uniforms are a bad idea because I believe students should express themselves. I think it’s a bad idea because some people don’t have enough money to buy this type of uniforms that we have here and some people wear the same clothes every day because they can’t buy other uniforms and some people might make fun of them and without uniforms, people might have clothes from other times because jeans are much cheaper than Dickies. I believe uniforms are a bad idea.
Paola says: Uniforms are a bad idea. Kids should be able to express themselves with the clothes they wear.
